Kseniya Simonova (1985) creates a sand animation in real-time, drawing with sand on a glass plate to create a story of the disaster of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the Ukraine. Yes, grim, but beautifully done = many tears in the audience. Her choice of music (acoustic version of ‘Nothing else matters’) could be debated, but very moving nonetheless.
