Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi (宮本 武蔵, c. 1584 – May 19, 1645), also known as, Shinmen Takezō, Miyamoto Bennosuke or, by his Buddhist name, Niten Dōraku, was a Japanese swordsman, philosopher, writer & rōnin (drifter, wanderer; a samurai without Lord or Master. A samurai became masterless from the death or fall of his master, or after the loss of his master’s favor or privilege).

The Book of Five Rings (五輪書 Go Rin no Sho; circa 1645), is a book on the art of fighting with two swords. Musashi was the first swordsman two fight with two swords (a long sword, & a short sword). Contained therein are;
1. The Book of Earth
2. The Book of Water
3. The Book of Fire
4. The Book of Wind
5. The Book of the Void
